rend Micro today announced the release of Trend Micro Mobile Security Personal Edition ($29.95/year), a successor to Trend Micro Mobile Security for Android. The new product offers Android users antivirus protection, antitheft, parental control, and blocking of unwanted calls and text.
Trend Micro Mobile Security Protection against Mobile Malware
Like BullGuard Mobile Security 10 and F-Secure Mobile Security 7, Trend Micro offers on-demand and real-time protection against mobile malware. Trend Micro and F-Secure also block phishing sites and other malicious sites.
New in this version is the ability to scan all apps on the device and warn about any that may compromise your privacy. Lookout Mobile Security and Webroot Mobile Security for Android also include application scanning.

The previous Trend Micro product allowed users to remotely wipe a locked phone. The current edition expands that ability into a full collection of antitheft tools. Users can log in to an online portal to map the location a missing device. If the device proves to be nearby, perhaps just mislaid rather than stolen, the user can trigger a loud alarm, even if the phone is set to silent. There’s also a new option to lock a lost phone’s data without wiping it out. Like F-Secure, Norton Mobile Security 2.0, and others, Trend Micro can prevent a thief from changing out the SIM card.
Trend Micro Mobile Security Simple Parental Control
The parental control system hasn’t changed. Before letting the kids use the phone parents can set parental control to low, medium, or high filter level. It doesn’t monitor the child’s activity the way eBlaster Mobile for Android, nor does it include category-based blocking like what’s found inMobicip Safe Browser Premium and Norton Online Family To Go Beta. However, parents can view which categories are blocked at each filter level. Like the previous edition, the current Trend Micro product can block incoming calls and texts from specific phone numbers.
