MSI CX600 laptop review

MSI CX600 mainframe

Cheap, surprisingly cheerful
The MSI CX600 mainframe offers very excellent regard for money. MSI CX600 mainframe uses a cold Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 CPU clocked at 2.2GHz, plus 4GB of RAM — specs you’d usually find in laptopsretailing for much more money. Our assess try out had a relatively modest 250GB hard drive, but MSI CX600 mainframe positively blessed us with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 graphics card, rather than a nonsense Intel integrated solution.
Who let in the riff-raff?
The ‘C’ in ‘MSI CX600 mainframe’ indicates that the machine is part of MSI’s Classic series. MSI CX600 mainframe just as well the company didn’t top out the word ‘classy’, as that’s not really a word that’s applicable to MSI CX600 mainframe. The lid, even with being glossy black, is honestly dull, and the grey-blue interior with contrasting not glossy black comes across as rather dreary.

The comfortable keyboard has a dyed-in-the-wool digit pad
We’re also pretty disappointed with the mainframe’s input diplomacy. MSI CX600 mainframe keyboard is comfortable enough to use and has a dyed-in-the-wool numerical keypad, but the mouse is vaguely too generous, so it’s simple to inadvertently go the cursor or brilliant items with the ball of your right hand as you type. This can be a royal pain in the rear, particularly as there’s no shortcut pin to for the interim deactivate the trackpad as you type.
Huge downer
The MSI CX600 mainframe is a honestly generous device, measuring 374 by 30 by 247mm, and weighing 2.5kg. That, you’d presume, would give it bounty of room to accommodate all the ports one may possibly wish for. Sadly, this isn’t the case. The CX600 has a paltry three USB ports — the same as you’d get on a netbook – and, even with its fancy graphics card, lacks an HDMI productivity. Instead, users have to place up with a D-Sub VGA productivity, which is a crying bring shame on. There’s categorically no way of outputting the record indicate digitally to an external spectacle.
Bits and assorted bobs
The CX600 makes up for its lack of an HDMI productivity, to some extent, by packing in some vital facial appearance. It uses high-speed, 300Mbps 802.11n Wi-Fi, so it’ll connect to wireless networks that are quicker than the 54Mbps 802.11g norm, it includes a built-in webcam privileged than the spectacle, and you get a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium, although it’s the 32-bit edition, which, disparate 64-bit variants, can’t address the mainframe’s full 4GB of RAM.
Performance anxiety
Most users should find the MSI CX600 mainframe quick enough for their needs. Its Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 CPU wasn’t very keen on carrying out our PCMark05 benchmark test, but rest assured that it never felt slow-moving all through our test period, even all through gray multitasking.
The MSI CX600 mainframe 3D graphics card is best than average for a mainframe of this price, too. It achieved a respectable 3,072 in 3DMark06, so it’ll happily run high-definition movies — whether they’re on an online benefit, such as YouTube, or downloaded to your PC — and play 3D sports meeting at modest settings.

End MSI CX600 mainframe

The MSI CX600 mainframe offers stunning regard for money. It has a quick CPU, a reasonable, gaming-competent graphics card and ample reminiscence. We’re painstakingly disappointed that it doesn’t have an HDMI productivity port, but, as long as you don’t need to connect your mainframe to a TV, it’s well value compelling into account.
